Vegan Nacho Cheese Sauce
You are going to want to drizzle this homemade dairy free cheese sauce over everything! It's so flavorful and couldn't be simpler to make. I've seen so many vegan cheese sauces made with cashews. This recipe is completely nut free and will save you money because we know cashews are expensive.
Ingredients in Vegan Nacho Cheese Sauce
- unsweetened canned full fat coconut milk
- nutritional yeast
- garlic powder
- paprika
- chili powder
- salt
- black pepper
How to make vegan nacho cheese sauce
Whisk all ingredients together in a saucepan. Cook on medium low-heat for about 5 minutes.
Some notes about this recipe
- It is crucial that you use full fat coconut milk for ultimate creaminess.
- Add a pinch of turmeric powder for a deeper yellow color.
- If you don’t love the flavor of coconut milk, you can try another thick milk like creamy oat milk, but you may need a starch such as tapioca starch or cornstarch to thicken the sauce.
- Add this sauce to elbow macaroni with a little dairy free cheese and you have yourself dairy free mac and cheese!
How to store vegan nacho cheese sauce?
Store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. It will become very thick as it sits in the fridge. Simply reheat in a saucepan before enjoying.
