Ingredients:
- ground chicken meat - I recommend a fat percentage around 90%. You can use 99% lean meat if you would like, but these burgers will not be juicy.
- finely minced yellow onion
- shredded cheddar cheese - Or, another shredded cheese of choice.
- coconut liquid aminos - You can replace coconut aminos with soy sauce, but the flavor will be slightly different. I love the depth of flavor the coconut liquid aminos add. If you use soy sauce, reduce the amount of salt added.
- dijon mustard
- garlic powder
- smoked paprika
- salt
- black pepper
- avocado oil spray - This is just for greasing.

How to make air fryer chicken burgers:

First, preheat your air fryer.
Next, add all of the ingredients to a bowl except for the avocado oil spray.
Combine the ingredients with your hands or a rubber spatula. Do not overwork the meat. Just mix until combined.
Spray the air fryer basket with avocado oil spray.
Divide the meat mixture into 4 portions and shape into patties.
Place the patties in the preheated and sprayed air fryer basket.
Spray the burgers with a little avocado oil spray.
Air fry the burgers at 365 degrees F for 8-10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
Serve the patties on a bun, in a salad or as is!
Recipe pro-tips:
There are different types of ground chicken meat based on fat percentages. I recommend a fat percentage around 90%. You can use 99% lean meat if you would like, but these burgers will not be juicy.
If you like ground turkey better than chicken, you can sub ground turkey. Again, if you use a ground meat with basically zero fat, the burgers will not be moist.
½ cup of cheese was perfect for me, but add more if you like your burgers extra cheesy.
If the ground chicken is sticky when you are trying to form the patties, coat your hands with a little water or oil to make things easier. When the ground meat gets warm, it tends to become more sticky.
It's easy to overcook burgers. Check them at 8 minutes.
