The best stove top shredded chicken recipe! The secret to shredding the chicken is to use your stand or handheld mixer!

Close up of Easy Shredded Chicken Recipe

I love preparing shredded chicken to have ready to go for the week. It's a great versatile protein to add to any dish.

I used to think I needed a crockpot/instant pot to make shredded chicken or I had to spend all day pulling it apart with two forks.

The secret is using your mixer to create the perfect shredded chicken. Simply toss your cooked chicken breasts into a stand mixer (I use my KitchenAid Mixer) with the flat beater attachment and watch your chicken magically shred. It's so easy!

Shredded Chicken in a Mixer

All you need is 2 Ingredients to Make this Easy Shredded Chicken Recipe!

  1. boneless skinless chicken breast
  2. bone broth - you can use chicken bone broth or beef bone broth!

How to make shredded chicken in a mixer?

  • Place chicken breast and bone broth into a saucepan. Bring the broth to a boil. Then, lower the heat to a simmer and cover with a lid.
  • Cook the chicken for 12-16 minutes, or until cooked through. Don't overcook or the chicken will be rubbery. Remove the chicken breast from the saucepan and place it into a stand mixer with a flat beater attachment. You can also use a handheld mixer.
  • Turn the mixer on low-medium speed and watch your chicken shred!
  • Use the leftover broth to make a soup. Use the leftover broth to make a soup. Try my Red Cabbage Soup!
  • Store your shredded chicken in THESE containers.
