Air Fryer Bananas are coated in lots of cinnamon, a drop of maple syrup and air fried until caramelized. They are the perfect easy dessert.
As a kid, my mom would sauté bananas in a pan with cinnamon and top them with vanilla ice cream. It was one of my favorite desserts. This recipe brings back so many memories!
I love this air fryer version because the bananas become super caramelized with very minimal oil and sugar. The entire recipe calls for less than one tablespoon of oil and just one teaspoon pure maple syrup.
Why you'll love air fryer bananas:
- Quick - When the sweet tooth hits, all you need is under 15 minutes to make this recipe.
- Customizable - You can serve these air fryer bananas anyway that you please. I topped mine with vanilla ice cream, graham crackers crumbs and walnuts.
- All you need is 5 ingredients for air fryer bananas!
- Easy - Even if you've never made a dessert in your life, I promise that this recipe couldn't be easier!
Ingredients overview:
- ripe yellow bananas - Not too ripe with lots of black spots and not green and underripe. If they are too ripe, they can break easily and become mushy. If they are underripe, they won't be sweet enough.
- melted coconut oil - To help them caramelize.
- pure maple syrup - For a little extra sweetness!
- vanilla extract - For that something special.
- ground cinnamon - Gives them the best warming flavor!
Ingredient substitutions:
- Butter or ghee can be used in place of coconut oil.
- Pumpkin pie spice or chai spice can be used instead of cinnamon.
- Cane sugar, coconut sugar, brown sugar or granulated monk fruit sweetener can be used in place of maple syrup.
