Chocolate Covered Strawberry Popcorn in Bowl

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Popcorn

I love a sweet and salty mix! Dark chocolate drizzled popcorn with strawberries and sea salt is the perfect marriage of sweet and salty. This recipe is great for Valentine’s Day or a romantic movie night in. I do want to warn you though, you might have to make a double batch...

ingredients in bowls and labeled for chocolate popcorn

Ingredients for Chocolate Covered Strawberry Popcorn:

  1. popcorn - you can pop your own or use store-bought popcorn
  2. melted dark chocolate
  3. coconut oil
  4. crushed freeze-dried strawberries - I recommend buying them from Trader Joe's!
  5. flaky sea salt

How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Popcorn:

  1. Lay popcorn onto a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. When melting the chocolate to prepare for drizzling, stir in the coconut oil. Adding the coconut oil allows for the chocolate to become smoother and easier to drizzle. The coconut oil also helps create more of a shell when the chocolate hardens. You cannot taste it.

  3. Evenly drizzle melted dark chocolate over the top. Sprinkle with freeze-dried strawberries and flaky sea salt.

  4. Place the popcorn into the freezer for about 30 minutes before enjoying so the chocolate can harden.

If you like to pop your own popcorn, I recommend THIS Microwave Micro-Pop Popcorn Popper!

You can use freeze-dried raspberries or omit the berries all together. Feel free to add another element such as chopped nuts of choice.

Can I use white chocolate?

Yes! You can use white chocolate in place of the dark chocolate. You can also drizzle white chocolate and dark chocolate over the popcorn to create zebra popcorn!

Absolutely loved how yummy and easy this recipe was! I used store bought Boom Chicka Pop and Lily’s Chocolate chips! It was a big hit at my small gathering and the perfect healthier treat.
