If you're not a fan of spice, you SHOULD BE fine. Shishito peppers are typically mild... UNLESS you are the lucky one. Every one in ten will pack a punch of heat!

What are shishito peppers?

Shishito peppers are small and (mostly) mild peppers from Japan.

Ingredients for shishito peppers:

  • shishito peppers - You can find these peppers at most major grocery stores. I purchase mine from my local Whole Foods.
  • avocado oil 
  • salt

Ingredients for Lemon Yogurt Aioli:

  • 2% plain Greek yogurt
  • extra virgin olive oil - good quality olive oil is key!
  • fresh lemon zest 
  • fresh lemon juice
  • garlic powder
  • salt and pepper

How to make shishito peppers in an air fryer:

  • Make the dipping sauce.
  • Combine all the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl until creamy.

  • Preheat your air fryer.
  • Place the cleaned peppers into a bowl.
  • Add avocado oil and salt.
  • Combine until the peppers are coated well.

  • Air fry at 400 degrees F for 7-10 minutes, shaking halfway through cooking.
  • If you have a small air fryer, make this recipe in two batches.

You do not need to remove the stems.

I recommend preheating your air fryer for even cooking.

If you have a small air fryer, make this recipe in two batches.

Since the peppers are coated in oil, there is no need to add oil to the air fryer basket.

Be sure to shake the air fryer basket halfway through cooking so the peppers become evenly browned on both sides.

Ingredients
  

Ingredients for shishito peppers:

  • 12 ounces shishito peppers
  • ½ tablespoon avocado oil 
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Ingredients for Lemon Yogurt Aioli:

  • ¾ cup 2% plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ tablespoon fresh lemon zest 
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Make the dipping sauce. Combine all the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl until creamy.
  • First, preheat your air fryer. If your air fryer has a preheating option you can preheat your air fryer. If you don’t have that option, you can run the machine at 400 degrees F for 2-5 minutes. Leave the machine running for about 3 minutes for smaller air fryers. Leave the machine running for about 5 minutes for larger air fryers.
  • Place the cleaned peppers into a bowl. Add avocado oil and salt. Combine until the peppers are coated well.
  • Add the seasoned peppers into your preheated air fryer. Air fry at 400 degrees F for 7-10 minutes, shaking halfway through cooking. If you have a small air fryer, make this recipe in two batches.
  • Serve the peppers with the dip and enjoy!
